Top of the Falls Restaurant Catering to folks on the American side of the Falls, this restaurant delivers fabulous views from inside the dining room and from spacious outdoor decks. Sleek, contemporary styling adds a measure of panache, and the cuisine mixes flavors and textures to great effect. Pork tenderloin is seasoned with anise, roasted native steelhead is served with fresh greens, and beer-battered haddock offers an elevated take on fish and chips. Pastas, burgers and salads also prove enticing. Full bar available.

Hard Rock Cafe AMERICAN CUISINE This upbeat, rockin' restaurant is full of music memorabilia and filling, tasty food. Start with Joe Perry of Aerosmith quesadilla, or try the Texas chili. Some mains include a classic French dip sandwich or a BLT. The menu is enormous and features barbecue favorites such as a hickory barbecue bacon burger and entrees such as New York strip steak or blackened chicken pasta. Top it all off with a good old-fashioned hot fudge sundae. If you're a night owl, stop in for a hearty fix of eats until 2am. The food is standard and tasty, but it takes a back seat to the wild scenery and high energy. 33 Prospect St., Niagara Falls, NY, USA. 716-282-0007. Sun-Thurs 11am-11pm; Fri-Sat 11am-midnight. Canadian location: 6705 Fallsview Ave., Niagara Falls, Ontario. Daily 11am-2am. 905-356-7625 |

Bob
Evans Farms Restaurant DINER Yes, it is a chain, but it's a darn good,
reliable one. As far as I can tell, it hasn't changed in the 15 years
since I first sat down for breakfast at one of their restaurants a bit
farther west in the state of Ohio, and personally I'm glad. Their all-day
breakfast dishes range from $3 to $8. Main courses are generous in portion
size and are likely to evoke happy but long-forgotten memories of hot
gravy, mashed potatoes, and meatloaf in older folk. Service is fast and
friendly. If you phone ahead, you can order entire home-style meals to go
and whole pies.
6543 Niagara Falls Blvd., southeast corner of Hwy. 62 and Interstate 90, Niagara Falls, NY, USA 716-283-2965. Main courses $7-$10 Daily 6am-9pm.
