Skylon Tower Restaurant, Niagara Falls Review, opinions, comments from travelersThe Skylon Tower is the tallest structure in Niagara Falls has an outdoor observation deck, glass elevators & an excellent revolving restaurant offering an exciting panoramic view of the Niagara area. If you look at the menu on display at the base of the Tower, you would assume from the prices, that this restaurant is the flagship of the Tower. The prices are at a premium, when compared to those of other restaurants in Niagara Falls.

Loved the food. It was way better then the Toronto CN Tower food.
The view from The Skylon Tower is nothing short of amazing. There is a rotating restaurant where we had lunch. It was overpriced (of course- it's a view you pay for) at around $25/meal, but the view made it worth it. The restaurant rotates one revolution per hour, so you can see the whole area. Of course if the falls are out of sight, the rest of the view is fairly dull. Cost- around $15 CD to go up (they bring you back down for free;)
The restaurant has a fantastic view and good menu. The price of dinner was relatively inexpensive. The staff was friendly as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
If you are looking for a fantastic dining experience look no further than this Niagara Falls land-mark. Amazing food and view of the Horse Shoe Falls.
This is a revolving restaurant and for that reason it is a neat place to eat. However, the price is very high for blah food and the service is indifferent. Such a shame that attractions that have something special to offer rarely provide their best at what they are meant to do.
We decided to eat at the revolving restaurant at Skylon Tower (Canada side). This was worth it in my opinion. You get a great view of the falls and a very good meal. We got out of there for $100 after tip - look in the phone book for a 1/2 price coupon on an entree. At first, I gave the price a second look, but soon realized that for the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the included trip to the upper deck to view the falls, it was appropriate.
The food was excellent, the service - fast and friendly and the atmosphere - relaxed. I just wish I was when tonight I asked my boyfriend to marry me after dessert. He said yes. Thank you for making the evening perfect for Joel and me.
We didn't eat here but we sat out on the deck and had a few (probably too many) drinks. It was great because it's right on the Falls walk. Althought we didn't eat- the food looked and smelled really good. This isn't like a night club or anything. It's just a place to kick back and take everything in. The waiter- and the rest of the staff- was very nice.
Went here for New Years Eve dinner. Reserved 3 months in advance.
I just wanted to tell you we had dinner and were delighted with everything from the view to the food, which was delicious. Your servers Patrick and Sherry were terrific. They were very friendly and made us feel very special. Thanks again for a great time.
nice view but terrible food! If you want the view just ride the elevator up do not eat there you will be very dissapointed especially when you get the bill for the food you had to choke down!
NEVER AGAIN~!
Food was okay. We ordered the kids meal for our toddler and it was enough to feed a 25-year-old. Way too much food. |
I brought my husband here on his birthday last year along with our 4 sons and it was a great experience. The ride up the elevator to the resturant and looking out of the windows was an adventure in itself. We enjoyed the buffet. My husband loved it the kids loved it and I was please at making such a great decision in picking this place as a bithday surprise. I remember the meal being fulfilling without leaving us stuffed. GOOD FOOD but not cheap
My friend Karen and I live 3000 miles apart - me on the East Coast in
Halifax, NS, and she on the West Coast in Victoria, BC. We were high
school best friends in Nova Scotia, but she moved to Victoria 40 years
ago. This year, we decided to meet in Toronto and travel on to Niagara
Falls as a 40 year reunion, plus it was my birthday on Sept 18. We
hadn't spent a birthday together since 1997. We decided to celebrate my
birthday by having dinner at the Skylon Tower. We chose the Buffet
Dinner and were definitely NOT disappointed. We were greeted at the desk
and seated at our table between the two Falls. We had THE most
spectacular view, simply breath taking. It was still daylight when we
arrived, and we were lucky enough to still be there when the
illumination began. It was all so beautiful - we got some amazing
pictures of the Falls. Our waitress, Peggy, was an absolute gem. So
sweet, friendly and helpful thru our entire evening. Tho they were very
busy (it was a Sunday evening), she still managed to gather a few of the
other staff and surprise me with a piece of cake and a glowing candle
and they all sang Happy Birthday to me. The buffet was delicious with
plenty of choices and the staff in the buffet room were all friendly and
helpful. I would have to say that my birthday dinner at the Skylon
Buffet was one of the best high lights of our trip. I highly recommend
the Buffet to any and all who want a special and beautiful experience. I
would not hesitate in the least in going back to enjoy the Skylon Buffet
- and hopefully someday I will. This place was too over priced. I've been to "fine dining" and easily dropped $150 US on a meal but this place was a rip off from the start! The plates were filthy for starts. Then they stuck us 2 inches away from the next table which is just not kosher in my book. I couldn't even carry on a conversation with my wife because I knew people would be eaves dropping. Don't waste your money on this restaurant trying to be a fine dining. In fact I wouldn't even go any where in the falls area. They are charging more the Downtown Manhattan prices for everything. This was the worst dining experience of my entire life. Of all the places to eat in Niagara Falls....do not go here. The place was not clean...the food choices were limited.....the hot entrees were cold....it was hard to find anything to eat that was at all appetizing! Go to McDonald's or any place but here. I was so embarrassed that I had chosen to take a friend here. Price high food descent i didn't mind going to this restaurant but for its structure i wasn't all that thrilled and i kinda got dizzy. And not very good service. sorry skylon tower Not the cheapest one - but a perfect view! Food was ot my real desire! The food at the Skylon was like the food at a bad wedding reception. Started off with OK bread, moved on to a mediocre salad, the your choice of Prime Rib, chicken or fish..then wrapped up with some chocolate moose. Blech. The View IS fantastic though. The rotating resturant takes about an hour to take you all the way around. Usually your just getting the check when you've completed a turn. Genius planning really. The place is expensive! Save some bucks and go for the early bird special. Or better still save more bucks and just visit the observation deck. grab dinner someplace else entirely. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. The restaurant revolves so that while you are dining you can view Niagara Falls and the surrounding area. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was good. Be sure to check out the observation deck after dining. We had no intention on going to this restaurant, but I had just had a lucky streak at the casino and decided what the heck. We went up to the top to do the view and they gave us tickets for 10.00 each off the restaurant. So we went ahead and went to eat. When we got up there, they told us that they should have told us that they closed at 3pm (it was 2:45). They acted very discussed about seating us, but did so. They rushed us to order and it took awhile for the food to come out. You get very HARD bread to eat with HARD, hard to spread butter while you wait for your food. Once the food arrived, it was ok-good...but hardly worth 27.00 for pasta & 24.00 for a salad. They charge 3.25 for a soft drink!!! And, there CHARGE for REFILLS!!! Our bill ended up being $71.08. Definately not worth it. I also want to add that about 45 min after eating, I ended up with severe stomach cramps and diarrhea the rest of the day. It kinda put a cramp on the rest of the day after eating there. I would never go back, but the view was great. Steak, salads, soups, various chicken dishes, fish...I had Chicken Cordon Bleu and it was good. The thing about this restaurant which makes it different is that you have to go up the exterior elevator to reach the restaurant. If you are afraid of heights, don't stand near the window - once we were near the top, I had to look away! The restaurant rotatates slowly, so you can have a view of the Falls, which is lit with colors at night. I have only been there once, and it was not the greatest meal in the world, but it really was tasty enough. Chicken Cordon Bleu is fine, and everyone else at the table seemed to like whatever they ordered. My wife and I had a wonderful, romantic evening overlooking the Fall last night. The service staff was extemely attentitve and the food was good. This is a rotating restaurant on the Canadian side of the falls. It is at the top of the Canadian observation tower. You must make reservations in advance. The restaurant actually slowly rotates and you can see the falls all lit up at night. The food is good too, buffet for the most part.
Too expensive for what is served. Waiting times are outrageous, and the service is ok...if you can get their attention. Too much hype...but they dont measure up.
The restaurant does have an incredible veiw but the service is slow and the food is mediocre especially for the price. Great place to stop and have a drink.
The view was amazing but the prices were ridiculous. My fiance' and I also ended up with a bad case of motion sickness because of the revolving restaurant. We left 15 minutes later after viewing the prices for dinner. The bread and butter was very delicious though.
O one does not visit Niagara Falls very often. In fact as we live in the UK we have done so twice in our lives, once in the 90s and once last year, and perhaps we'll do so in another ten years' time. This was a big trip for us, very expensive, very special - or that's what we wanted it to be. In fact, the 'expensive' part was easier to achieve than the 'special'.
