Queenston Heights Restaurant
REGIONAL/CANADIAN CUISINE Perched above the Niagara River, the dining room of this restaurant in the heart of Oueenston Heights Park offers a spectacular view. The view is at its most beautiful in the autumn, when the trees on both sides of the Niagara River blaze with warm fall colors. The menu features a variety of cuisines, with a number of Canadian-themed dishes, which may include local St. David's proscuitto on golden beet and arugula salad drizzled with apple cider vinaigrette, Ontario veal braised in tomato and garden herbs with Yukon mashed potatoes, and Canadian maple syrup mousse. Service is efficient, if a little distant. The children's menu is more imaginative than most – for instance, veal
scaloppini with capellini and vegetables in tomato sauce, or sirloin strips with spinacli dumplings and seasonal vegetables. It's nice to see the kitchen making an effort for the kids as well as the grow-ups. In addition to lunch and dinner, the restaurant serves Sunday brunch seasonally and aftemoon tea on weekends from May to October (daily in July and Aug). One more offering – Niagara Grand Dinner Theatre puts on shows here: matinee and evening performances along witn a three-course menu.

Noir
REGIONAL/CONTEMPORARY CUISINE It only makes sense that the Fallsview Casino has a restaurant that pays homage to gambling. Decorated in reds and blacks to mimic a roulette table, the chairs are fussy felt and the tables are round. The food is some of the best that your gambling money can buy, and it's worth the trip even if gambling isn't in your plans. Portions are large and the range is wide. A squash soup is a great blend of pureed squash with a creamy butter, which brings out the sweetness of the vegetable. And for fish lovers, I recommend an organic Irish salmon filet cooked to your liking, just like a steak. The salmon is perched on top of fingerling potatoes, double smoked bacon, and shallot veal reduction. Choose from other sumptuous treats like seared bison with celery-root puree, foie gras turnover, and seared sea scallops. Traditional Tahitian vanilla bean cheesecake is thick and bursting with worthy calories. Downstairs from the dining room, have a seat at the sushi and noodle bar, which is open late. Watch the Japanese master sushi chefs (two on staff) prepare delicacies right in front of your eyes |

6380 Fallsview Blvd. Niagara Falls,
Ontario Reservations recommended. Dining room: $30-$45, daily 5-11pm; sushi and noodle bar daily 11am-4am.

Boston Pizza
Convenient for the Clifton Hill mob, Boston Pizza has a menu that will overwhelm your eyeballs with more than 100 items. Best known for its pizza and pasta, Boston Pizza also serves up ribs, sandwiches, and salads. Arcade games and TV screens suck patrons' attention away from the food and the pace of the dining room seems to be stuck on fast forward, but no one would notice – the entire Clifton Hill district pulsates with neon energy from early morning to way past the witching hour every night. There is an outdoor patio for warm-weather dining. A great outing with lots of friends or the family – you'll find large portions, beer and wings, and a plethora of pizzas that are worth the trip. It's a watch-the-game or cele-brate-a-birthday kind of place.
