This restaurant advertises a $6.99 breakfast buffet (breakfast is
the only meal served). Once you are sucked in the door by the appealing
price, you are informed orally that beverages are extra. Few patrons
question the price of the beverages since one expects them to be
reasonable (based on the reasonable $6.99 buffet. There is no menu
provided to show the price list. When you request a glass of water, you
are told that they don't provide water by the glass, but that you can have
water by the "bottle". When you get your bill, you discover that
you paid $2.75 plus tax for your water. A glass of orange juice is $3.75,
and a tea-bag in hot water is priced at $2.50, as is a cup of coffee. A
drink of water, orange juice, coffee, and a 6.99 buffet for two people
cost TERRIBLE.... How can they sell such things and call them food? All they think of is making money and rip you off. I traveled to Niagara Falls, Canada with a friend who loves "All You Can Eat Buffets". He feels they give you more for your money and he insisted upon eating here. There isn't much on this buffet. This is the truth in detail: On the buffet they have powdered eggs with the water running out of them, undercooked bacon, sausage and pancakes with no flavor. When you walk over to take food you will notice something extra you didn't pay for....flies, lots of flies swarming all over the food. You probably think to yourself...okay that's not very appetizing, but you push them away with your hands and take your food. We go back to the table with our food and guess what....more flies. My friend and I battled with the flies, but I was losing my appetite. The combination of the bland food and flies were putting an end to this for me when a bee flew into my friend's food. That was the bitter end. I stood up and said, "I've had it!" My friend followed me to the register to complain. He saw our waitress and told her. Her response, "Oh I'm not handling this. I saw you both eating!" She slammed the bill on the counter and walked away. We asked to see a supervisor. They sent the hostess. My friend told her the problem and she said, "Well this is an "All You Can Eat Buffet. If you don't like your seat, get up, take another table, a plate, get more food and sit down." Can you believe the nerve of these people? I walked out of the restaurant. My friend waited for the manager. He finally saw the REAL manager who said...yes sometimes there are flies and bees here. You can leave. THIS PLACE IS NOT SANITARY! DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILIES HERE! I ate here on the morning of August 21, 2010. Absolutely aweful, we were enticed in with the 6.99 buffet but it doesnt includes drinks which are priced at 3.50. No air conditioning, poor quality food. We ended up paying 50 bucks for two adults and two kids for breakfast. Stick with Applebees or TGI Fridays across the road, 10 times better and CHEAPER! I asked for water for the three of us, and was told that they only served bottled water. I said, I am not paying for bottled water, all I want is tap water. The waitress told me that she would lose her job if she served tap water. I told her to get the manager, that it was illegal to refuse to serve water. She brought another woman over, and when I started quoting Canadian Law, she suddenly realized that she was not the manager either! I told them..."either get the manager here, or bring me 3 glasses of water" The manger is not here..."Then get him on the phone, or get me my water." So, a few seconds later, voila! the manager! So, he insisted that it was not against the law not to serve water, I told him that the law stated that A, you could not charge for water and B, You could not refuse Water. I am also sending this letter to the NF Chamber of Commerce. By the way, I GOT MY WATER! DO NOT GO!!!! The wait was about 10 minutes to find a seat. the place was absoloutly hopping. there was a lot of food on the buffet, simple and traditional but it was the price that was great. We ate at quite a few restaurants in and around the area and let me tell you eat here. We paid 30-50 dollars more at the next cheapest place for breakfast. Nothing fancy but at least we left with most of our money and a full stomach
Rip oof place, scammers and ignorants, the waitress looking at your food and making you feel uncomfortable, surprise with the bill triple charge, Never go there again.... These people complaing are simply disgrunteld cheapos and ex emploeyees...come on what do you expect for $6.99 in the core of Niagara...have you ever had Denny's by the Hilton when it was still there...no that was a rip off...a bowl of cereal was $7.99 pluse $2.75 for a drink...but at least you got free refills...but it does suck but again for $6.99 what do you expect...compared to the prices of other places it's a good deal but only if you just woke up from a hangover where taste doesn't count...just quanitity....but I agree it sucked ass we went there and had to wait 50 minutes outside to sit down, i thought wow for this long of a wait it had to be some good food...but to my amazement when we entered the resturant to sit down....i seen it all this is a run down place messy floors, the buffet was nothing fancy i guess you pay for what you get! i told my husband lets get out of here, we did and so did about 4 other couples when they seen the filth people where eating in, i mean come on managment hire some more staff to clean it up! your losing business. lets everyone go there again with a bottle of water and some pop ... lol ... that would slap them back hard ... and just leave by paying 6.99 ... now thats what i would do when i go there ever (not like i would go after reading this) ...
Dear God. Bait-and-switch here, folks. As
mentioned before, it costs $6.99 for the ick breakfast (even for kids).
Add $4.00 for a glass of milk and $3.00 for a cup of coffee. The
waitress, however, was kind enough to tell us that we could have "as
much coffee as we wanted". We didn't.
Agree with all of the above comments in addition to
the fact that they will make up their own exchange rate....10% in their
favor when in fact the rate the day of our visit was actually in our
favor.....NEVER AGAIN....please tell everyone that you know NOT to go
here. |
I curse my self why i have been there..Its a rip off seeing ALL you can
*****************WARNING- NEVER EAT AT COUNTRY
CHALET!******************On Remembrance Day 2011 I was sucked into the
worst eating experience of my life at the $6.99 Country Chalet Breakfast
Restaurant. I asked for a menu and was told they don't have one (even
for beverage selections) ... Then they portray to give coffee
(@$2.99)automatically as part of the "Horrible experience". So I decided
to get a basic sized orange juice ($3.99 + 13% tax + 15% tip= $5.11) and
was never told the price or option selections. I also asked for a water
and was told that THEY DON'T GIVE TAP WATER, HOWEVER I COULD PURCHASE A
BOTTLE OF NAYA WATER FOR $2.75 + + (not told up front)-WHICH I SAW
EARLIER AT A LOCAL GROCERY STORE FOR 6 BOTTLES FOR $1.00!!!! We thought
we were supporting a small business man, but all we were doing was being
TRICKED BY SOME GREEDY SCUMBAG OWNER! The problem is that I've been in
many $6.99 breakfast places in the past and they have never used such
trickery to get the bill so high. When I complained to a manager I was
directed to what seemed to be a waitress who said "this is the strip and
that's what other restaurants charge". I guess Cousin Vinnys and Almacs
since they are owned by the same owner as the Country Trickery Rip-Off
Chalet Scumbag Owner! And to top it off the food was disgusting as most
people have indicated in the reviews! Niagara Falls City should do
something about this because this kind of business practice will turn
people away from going to the falls and and trying to support the local
economy! repulsive place. the health department
should investigate. bugss, bees and birds all over the tables, flies all
over the buffet. ridiculous hidden charges for water and other drinks. i
think this place gives your town a bad name. Unbeleivable, they advertise $6.99 breakfast and when you get bill, you see they ad $3 for a cup of coffee. Food was horrible and you needed to swat flies away. Service attitude was poor, to say the least. If you decided to eat outside you needed to share your table with the swallows that were pecking at the fake maple syrup containers, hmmm no board of health in Niagra Falls I guess. Do yourself a favor go to a McDonalds, you will get a better meal. PEOPLE WAKE UP THIS PLACE IS OWNED BY THE Recommend for the ladies the waiters are so cute and handsome, the scrambled eggs light and fluffy and crispy bacon. Washed down with cool orange juice this is the perfect way to start your niagara day gals! This is the hooters for gals! STAY AWAY… FAR AWAY!!! This place is an absolute JOKE! The food is fine, standard breakfast fare; it’s the hidden extras that caught us off guard. $4 per drink for coffee, juice and bottled water. THEN a 10% fee if you use American currency instead of Canadian (keeping in mind, the rate of exchange was par at the time of our trip). Had I not been in shock, I would have taken my 10% tip off the table and said “There… there’s your FEE.” I wish I would have read these reviews prior to my visit! i am not taking my part of 12 to this place by the way it is against the law to charge for wster you stuip restarant owner i will tell to least 100 people about this palce your going out of business sooner then you think My friend and I went here for breakfast yesterday and were sorely disappointed. We ended up spending over thirteen dollars each for an incredibly horrible breakfast. The hard boiled eggs were stale and the rest of the food was just as bad. We were appalled at the price of drinks and how we had to pay for water at $3.11 (with tax) per bottle, my friend didn’t open hers and refused to pay for it. The coffee was horrible and service wasn’t great either. By the looks of the reviews here I am not certain how this restaurant remains in business other than they seduce you into their establishment with their ‘larger than life - $6.99’ sign. It’s terrible that they get away with this unprofessional business practice. To be sure I will spread the word and will never frequent their doors again! Disgraceful! UMMM PEOPLE What KIND OF FOOD DO YOU EXPECT FOR 6.99 and 15.99, LMAO YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD!!!!!!!! AS WITH MOST THINGS IN THIS WORLD. Your Own fault for being so Cheap!!!!!! ESPECIALLY the lady who took her parents there for their anniversary!!!! WHO DOES THAT??? And LADY learn how to spell!!!! My husband and I recently visited Niagara Falls and while I consider both of us to be reasonable intelligent people, fully capable of asking the right questions, we too were drawn in by the "All you can eat for $6.99" hook. I cannot add anything new to the comments already noted here by my fellow diners except to confirm that everything they had said here is 100% true. This restaurant is without doubt one of the worst, if not the worst CLIP JOINTS we have ever experienced. PEOPLE BE AWARE. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. IN FACT IF I LIVED IN NIAGARA FALLS I THINK I'D PICKET THE PLACE. DO NOT GO HERE! THEY DONT EVEN GIVE OUT WATER!! NEVER WILL VISIT AGAIN! The $6.99 price for the buffet is only the starting price. NO beverages are included in this price, not even water!! They charge for bottled water!! Of course, this is not mentioned (though the cash register tape has a "God bless you" printed on it, after they surprise you with the total bill). Asked for decaf, was told they only had instant - nice of them to at least allowed me to decline. The food isn't all that bad, nothing fancy (canned fruit cocktail was the only fruit) but enough hot choices and they are kept really hot. So hot and steamy that my glasses fogged up when we walked in, and stayed that way for quite a while. While the food wasn't all that bad, we just felt taken advantage of with the whole beverage price thing. Once you add the price of coffee and juice to the $6.99, the hotel/casino prices are looking much more reasonable and with better quality food. I hope people will please read and listen to my review. The owners who own this and my cousin vinny's accross the street are soooooooo rude that you will not believe your eyes/ears. They treat their employees like animals and slaves. The food was so bad that when we confronted the owner she started YELLING!!! What an animal!! Honestly, if you eat here, you will see what I am talking about, and you will 100% regret your choice!!!Also, you have to BUY water, they dont give you tap water. GREED GREED GREED!!!!!!! I AGREE WITH THE FOLLOWING COMMENT, WE GOT SUCKED IN AS WELL ?????????? AND HAD TO LISTEN TO THE RESTAURANT OWNER AND THE CLIENTS GO AT IT, AND ON TOP OF THAT, THE OWNER TALK DOWN TO ONE OF HER EMPLOYEE, NOT VERY GOOD MANNERS.
I
wished I read those review before we walked in this buffet place. I had
most disgusting breakfast ever. And it cost me 35 CAN for 2 people.
It's not about how much I pay for, it's the restaurant totally trick &
lie to me. On the sign, it told you it's all you can eat for $6.99.
But when I got the bill, I finally relize that the drink is not included.
This is the worst breakfast place on the planet. Owner/Manager is rude, the food sucks and they cheat you by not telling you up front that beverages are ala cart and priced about 300% over what they should be. A single cup of coffee - brewed - not special like Starbucks - was $3.75. They won't provide water except in a bottle and that is $3.50. The place would be better served if it burned to the ground.
As an ex employee for this restaurant I can guarantee everything that you have read is true. The food is terrible, the owners are inconsiderate, violet, sexually harassing and greedy. They don't tell you hidden charges for a reason.. Please save your money, you might as well just go to a circus.
This place is terrible.....very over priced.....and NO refills on soft drinks/ice tea...I,ve never heard of that...I frequent many restraunts and this place is on my black list.....People...do not go thier
me and my family were not even informed that drinks cost extra, out bill came to 50 dollars for 3 people, the food wasnt even that great, in fact it sucked ass |
